Croatian Connections: Three Social Media Accounts That Highlight Croatia

Fruit stand on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia

I spent a few weeks in Canada and felt the love. So, I thought I’d share some love here and highlight a few accounts that highlight Croatia. No, they do not need me to do so. They are doing fine all on their own.

Navigating this Adriatic Adventure often includes exploring the World Wide Web for relevant Croatian content.

Sometimes, I start with Google and sometimes with Instagram.

And while both will usually get me the results I need, I also ask family and friends.

Because that is how we inquired about things before ‘Google’ became a verb.

We also used encyclopedias, microfiche, and….well, you get it.

What’s microfiche?

Google it.

I’ve also learned a lot about Croatia from Croatian novels. It's been a great way to practice my Croatian.

But that’s for another post.

This post: Croatia and social media.

Falling in love with the Adriatic Sea. That blue!

The three accounts I mention here provide great storytelling. They share content that I’ve found helpful, inspiring, and entertaining.

Are there more than three accounts about Croatia?

Of course!

But I recently returned from a short visit to Canada, and my mind is only willing to produce a list of three.

Also, if you look at the accounts they follow, I am sure you will uncover numerous gems specific to your likes and interests.

Expat in Croatia

Looking to move to Croatia? Get Croatian Citizenship?

Are you already living in Croatia and need guidance navigating the system?

Check out Expat in Croatia.

Recently, the Instagram account reached 10,000 followers.

That’s a lot of people interested in learning more about how to make the move to Croatia.

I love it!

Come join me and start your own Adriatic Adventure.

In 2013, Sara Dyson, the founder of Expat in Croatia, launched the website as a free resource for anyone arriving in Croatia who needed guidance.

Over the last ten years, Sara has become an encyclopedia on ALL things Croatia.

I’ve met Sara. While I have not tested her knowledge on ALL things Croatia, it is evident that she knows a lot about how to guide someone in their transition to Croatia.

Check out the website for more information. And if you need more guidance, book a consulting session. This group knows their stuff.

Ljeto in Croatia

If you want to scroll through recent photos and videos of Croatia, visit the Ljeto in Croatia (Summer in Croatia) Instagram account.

Be prepared to fall in love with the Adriatic Sea - so much blue!

The account, run by Croatian Canadian Ivan Ćosić, has over 45,000 followers.

He captures places and moments that will leave you wanting to know more.

They leave me wanting to know more. So I google.

Contact Ljeto in Croatia for collaborations, trip consulting, and bookings.

If you are looking for content from someone who fell in love with Croatia and now shares her personal and professional journey, check out Social Media Strategist & Content Creator Niav Konno’s account on TikTok: My Life in Croatia.

Niav shares her journey with over 20,000 followers on TikTok.

She shares posts that highlight her life in Makarska, her adventures throughout Croatia, and her professional highlights.

Yes, of course, I had to plug Makarska. It’s where I live.

I met Niav in Makarska last summer, and we have become friends.

She has become somewhat of a local celebrity here in Makarska.

I’ve seen it :)

I am not a social media expert, but I imagine part of it is because people connect with her love story - her love for Croatia.

Follow her love story and reach out if you want a social media strategist or content creator.
